Story Of Apartheid

Did you know that Apartheid system in South Africa was primarily promulgated to prop-up the Orange Free State goldfield?

In his book, Long Walk To Freedom, the anti-Apartheid freedom fighter Nelson Mandela, carefully observes and comments that Apartheid was an old idea but a new term.

He states that in represented the consolidation of all the laws and regulations that had kept Africans in an inferior position to Whites for centuries.

He observes that what was the de-factor at the time,  would become relentlessly de-jury. He further explains that the often haphazard segregation on the past three hundred years was going to be consolidated in a monolithic system that was diabolical in it’s detail, inescapable in it’s reach and overwhelming in it’s power! 

The laws were being proposed towards the elections of 1948 in South Africa by the National Party under the leadership of D.F Malan, would further disrupt the way of life of the Africans primarily by mining companies seeking cheap labour to develop their operations.
